Real Zaragoza's midfielder Jermaine Pennant could be set for a shock return to Premier League

Jermaine Pennant, who’s is currently playing for Spanish side Real Zaragoza is now beeing linked with a move back to a Premier League club; – Martin O’Niell’s side Aston Villa.

Pennant, who used to play for Villa’s bitter rivals Birmingham, is not enjoying life in Spain with Real Zaragoza.

Martin O’Neill has noted Pennant’s situation and despite his links with Birmingham, the Villa manager is ready to make a January move for the 26-year-old.

It is thought an offer of £2.5million would be enough to persuade Zaragoza to part with Pennant.

The midfielder is out of contract at the end of next season and O’Neill would rather sell than risk losing him for nothing in 2011.

Fulham are also interested in the 25-year-old and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could also try a cut-price £3m bid.
