Talented Angel Di Maria is beeing watched closely by the big clubs

According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea are prepared to make a €40m bid for Benfica winger Angel Di Maria .

El Mundo Deportivo claims that Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are Chelsea’s main rivals to sign the 22 year-old for next season. The report notes that there was talk of Di Maria going to the Nou Camp earlier this season, as part of a deal which saw the Brazilian striker Keirrison move to Benfica.

Nonetheless, El Mundo Deportivo maintains that Chelsea are preparing a concrete offer for crafty left-sided midfielder Di Maria.

Di Maria has scored four goals in 26 appearances this season, providing nine assists and he has also picked up five yellow cards.

Benfica’s impressive form domestically has ensured they have one of the most attractive squads in their history with Di Maria considered the prize asset.

Manchester United are ready to make a summer move for England midfielder Joe Cole if he cannot resolve his contract dispute at Chelsea.

Talks on a new deal for Cole have dragged on for weeks and are no nearer being concluded.

Cole, 28, will be out of contract in the summer and clubs are now beginning to be alerted that his future is becoming increasingly uncertain. Sir Alex Ferguson has been an admirer of Cole for some time and the prospect of picking up such an experienced and talented player on the cheap would be an attractive one.

United boss Ferguson is looking for reinforcements on the left for Ryan Giggs and Cole, who could be available as a free agent, would be a bargain.

Chelsea are plotting a £70million rejuvenation of their squad in the summer, with four young European stars in their sights.

They have earmarked Borussia Dortmund’s Serbia centre-back Neven Subotic, winger Angel Di Maria, of Benfica, Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik and Bayern Munich schemer Bastian Schweinsteiger as their main targets.

Roman Abramovich has given the go-ahead for a spending spree after Chelsea had their worldwide FIFA transfer ban lifted earlier this month. They did not spend in the January transfer window, even though the ban had been frozen, with manager Carlo Ancelotti preferring to keep his powder dry.

Alex is unhappy after losing his first team place and that has alerted the German giants who are preparing a summer move.

Brazilian Alex signed a four-year contract in October and will start against Cardiff City in today’s FA Cup fifth round tie because troubled Chelsea captain John Terry has flown to Dubai to save his marriage.

Chelsea and Manchester United target Sergio Aguero admits his days at Atletico Madrid could be numbered.

Chelsea were plotting a £40million bid for the Argentina striker last month but no move materialised.

United boss Alex Ferguson is interested in Aguero – son-in-law of Argentine legend Diego Maradona – but has yet to make a firm bid as Atletico continue to play hardball over the fee.

The Premier League title rivals are set to step up their interest after this summer’s World Cup.

But playmaker Aguero, 21, revealed, although he loves Atletico, he cannot rule out leaving the club.

He said: “I have enormous affection for Atletico but you cannot say I’ll be here for ever.

“At the moment, I’m happy here and love the fans. I hope I can do well for them on the pitch.”

Aguero has long been tipped for stardom and he says the chance to overtake fellow countryman Lionel Messi as the best player on the planet is big motivation going into the World Cup.

He added: “Any player would like to be told he’s the best in the world but I still have things to learn.

“It’ll be my first World Cup and, God willing, I’ll help Argentina reach the final. It’s important to have a dream.”

Chelsea are plotting a January swoop for West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green following a series of below-par performances from Petr Cech.

With Cech off the pace, Chelsea have been alerted to the fact that Green has attracted firm interest from Sunderland and Aston Villa, who both want to do business next month.

West Ham are almost resigned to losing Green and have alerted staff to search for cover. Manager Gianfranco Zola feels reserve keepers Marek Stech and Peter Kurucz lack the experience to go straight into the Premier League.

The Ajax striker Luis Suarez has become one of Chelsea’s key targets in January when the club are preparing a spending spree that will see them through a potential transfer ban in the summer as punishment for the Gaël Kakuta affair.

Suarez, 22, a Uruguay international is rated at between £15m and £20m and is being talked about at the highest level by Chelsea. The 19-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place at the San Siro this season but Inter president Massimo Moratti insists he is a big part of the club’s future and is under contract until June 2013.

Asked if he would want to have Balotelli in London, Ancelotti told La Stampa: “I like him.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea are on alert as CSKA Moscow star Milos Krasic showes his interest in a January move to Barclays Premer League.

The £9million-rated Serbia playmaker caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson in two impressive Champions League performances against Manchester United.

But Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea also sent scouts to watch him during CSKA’s 3-3 draw at Old Trafford last month.

The 25-year-old’s agent says England is the most likely destination for a player who has also attracted interest from Real Madrid and AC Milan.

‘I think that if Krasic leaves CSKA in January, he is 90 per cent likely to go to England,’ said agent Dejan Joksimovic.
