Robbie Keane joins Scottish side Celtic on loan until the end of the season

Celtic have confirmed the signing of Tottenham striker Robbie Keane on loan until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old Republic of Ireland international is travelling to Glasgow on Monday evening and will be presented at a media conference at 2300 GMT.

Keane has been consistently linked with a move to the club he is known to have supported as a boy.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said: “He needs to be playing and to go to Celtic is a dream come true for him.”

Celtic had already added Diomansy Kamara from Fulham on loan and Morten Rasmussen from Brondby during January to bolster their strike force.

Keane, a lifelong Celtic fan, has made 25 appearances for Spurs this season but has recently been confined to the substitutes’ bench.

Hutton joined Tottenham for £9m from Rangers in 2008

Sunderland have signed Tottenham defender Alan Hutton on loan until the end of the season.

The Scotland international, 25, has made just one Premier League start this season, with Vedran Corluka preferred as the first-choice right-back.

“We have tracked him for some time,” Sunderland manager Steve Bruce told the club’s official website.

Harry Redknapp could be tempted to make a £6million move for Wigan left-back Maynor Figueroa when the January transfer window opens.

The Spurs boss has been told there is no money to spend having already shelled out £160million since taking charge.

But shrewd Redknapp is ready to wheel and deal to raise the funds by selling Gareth Bale.

Bale cost Spurs an initial £5million when he arrived from Southampton in May 2007, but the 20-year-old has failed to make much of an impact.

David Bentley will plead with Tottenham to let him leave during the January transfer window.

Tottenham midfielder Bentley, 25, was not even on the bench on Saturday after a training ground bust-up with Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp has tried to play down the row after a behind-closed-doors game with non-league Grays, but still did not pick him among the 18 against Wolves.

It has left Bentley desperate to get away after suffering a nightmare since his £17million move to Spurs 18 months ago.

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes, Bentley’s manager at former club Blackburn, is still an admirer and tried to sign him during the summer window.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is in the race to snap up Lazio rebel striker Goran Pandev in a cut-price deal when the window opens.

Redknapp has switched his search for a new forward to the Macedonian international who could leave Italy on the cheap after a long-running dispute with the Rome club.

Pandev, a strong and quick 26-year-old, is interested in the Spurs move after falling out with Lazio because he would not sign a new contract – or move for big money when they wanted last summer.

The feisty star has even asked to be made a free agent because of the row, but Lazio could end the argument by selling him for around £3 or £4 million in the New Year.

Manager Rafa Benitez knows he desperately needs back-up for Fernando Torres and has grown increasingly tired of Babel’s displays and murmurings of discontent.

Babel, an £11.5m signing from Ajax two years ago, represents Liverpool’s biggest bargaining tool and at 22 he has a great re-sale value. However, Tottenham want optimum price for Pavlyuchenko and may even ask for Babel plus cash.

Mowbray’s money men sounded out Spurs about the potential coup weeks ago but their interest has been revived by Keane’s absence from Harry Redknapp’s side.

And the Glasgow giants are now trying to put a deal together to take the Republic of Ireland striker on loan with a view to a permanent transfer down the line.

Keane has had a difficult time at White Hart Lane since re-joining the club from Liverpool at the start of the year. He is struggling to make the starting line-up with Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch teaming up well.

Tottenham Hotspurs plan a £10million raid for Ivory Coast striker Seydou Doumbia – tipped to be Didier Drogba’s World Cup partner.

Manager Harry Redknapp had the 21-year-old watched on Sunday, when he scored for Young Boys of Berne in a 2-0 win over Basle.

Spurs face competition from Ruben Kazan and CSKA Moscow for Doumbia, whose 16 goals this season have helped put Young Boys top of the Swiss Super League. Ruben and CSKA have already had £8m bids rejected.

Sources close to Doumbia, who scored against Germany last month in his first full start for Ivory Coast, say he would prefer the Premier League to Russian football.

The spurs have tabled a one-year contract to Patrick Vieira in a bid to lure the former Arsenal captain to White Hart Lane.
