Ranocchia has signed with Inter for a 15 million Euro fee.
Inter have reportedly signed 21 year old central defender Andrea Ranocchia from Genoa for 15 million Euros, according to reports in Italy.
The youngster is considered a hot prospect for the future, with Juventus and Manchester United both reportedly interested in signing the towering 6′4″ defender.
Ranocchia has been out injured with a severe knee injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season; however his dominating displays in the first half of the season while on loan with surprise package Bari has created much buzz about his rich future.
Inter see Ranocchia as the future of their defense, as they currently have a rather old squad that they plan to overhaul this summer. Many have likened the young Italian to Inter defender Marco Materazzi, who like Ranocchia, is a towering and intimidating player within both offensive and defensive situations.
Bari Coach Giampiero Ventura has stated that Ranocchia and fellow center-back Leonardo Bonucci are the causes of Bari’s success in the league this season.
The transfer was successful due to Inter’s strong relationship with Genoa, who have made several deals together over the past few years. It is believed that Inter will add two youth team players to the deal, in order to continue this strong relationship.
