The defensive midfielder is seen as the perfect replacement for Brazilian flop Felipe Melo
Juventus are prepared to approach Sporting Lisbon’s 23 year old midfielder Miguel Veloso, as they have sent several scouts to watch the player, according to reports in Italy and Portugal.
The Bianconeri want to solve their midfield woes after the continual poor performances by Brazilian Felipe Melo, who is likely to leave the club in the summer. Juventus feel the young Portuguese player is a suitable replacement.
Juventus have had difficulty with Portuguese players in the past, as Jorge Andrade has barely featured due to numerous injuries and a lack of form, while Tiago Mendes has been loaned out to Atletico Madrid after two years of disappointing performances.
Veloso has a 30 million Euro minimum release clause, however he was close to joining both Inter and Porto for almost half that price in January.
From recent interest from Arsenal in Felipe Melo, where Arsene Wenger holds the Brazilian in high regard, it is likely that Juventus will have the funds for this deal.
