Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has warned supporters not to expect any big-name signings in the near future, despite having £60m at his disposal, because he does not see any value in the transfer market.

Real Madrid have offered their 23-year-old Argentine centre back Ezequiel Garay to Manchester United to help solve their defensive injury crisis. However, he would cost around £6m as the Spanish side are reluctant to do a loan deal.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he would be keen to sign Ruud van Nistelrooy, 33, if the Real Madrid striker became available in the January transfer window. Liverpool and Arsenal are also reportedly tracking the former Manchester United forward.

Sunderland, Hull and Blackburn are keeping tabs on Colin Kazim-Richards, 23, after the winger was transfer-listed by Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Everton have opened talks with striker Louis Saha over a new contract, with his current two-year deal due to expire in the summer. Italian side Roma, French club Bordeaux and Spanish team Atletico Madrid are all interested in the 31-year-old French international.

Chelsea are closing in on a British record £40m deal to sign Atletico Madrid’s 21-year-old striker striker Sergio Aguero.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is waiting to hear whether he will be handed substantial transfer funds next month. Reds owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks are set to bank about £330m after selling their respective ice hockey and baseball sides. (Sunday Express)

Tottenham have put four players up for sale, including captain Robbie Keane, as boss Harry Redknapp prepares a January bid for Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. Spurs will listen to offers for Keane, Roman Pavlyuchenko, David Bentley and Alan Hutton in next month’s transfer window.
